Q How do I download a copy of my car or bike policy?

Once the payment is made, the option to download the policy would be visible on the screen. You will also get a copy of the policy on your registered email address.

Alternatively, you can just login to acko.com with your registered mobile number. On your policy card, please click 'View Details'. You will be redirected to the policy details page where you will see a 'Download Policy' button. Click on the button to download the policy document.

Q How do I change details in my car or bike policy?

Please login to acko.com. On your policy card, please click 'View Details'. You will be redirected to the policy details page where you will see an 'Edit Policy' button. Once you click on the button, a new pop-up will open with all the possible changes you can make in the policy. Select the type of change and provide the new details. Click submit. Post submitting, the new policy copy with the updated details will be generated.

For changes such as Policyholder Name, few documents might be required for us to validate the new details. Once the documents are provided by you, our helpdesk would review and approve the documents and the new policy copy with the updated details will be generated.

For changes such as IDV, addition of a new cover, etc., the premium gets re-calculated and you might need to make an additional payment or be eligible for refund or there might be no change at all. Post the payment, if any, the new policy copy with the updated details will be generated.

Q How do I create a claim for my car or bike policy?

Creating a claim is easy. Just login to acko.com with your registered mobile number. On your Policy Card, click on 'Claim Now'. Answer the few questions that follow and you are done. Our claims expert will get back to you shortly and assist you on the next steps.

Q How do I download the plan document for mobile or appliance protection?

Once you purchase the plan, you will receive the plan’s link on your registered mobile number and email ID.

Alternatively, you can login to acko.com with your mobile number used to buy the plan with Amazon. Visit acko.com/repairs to view all your mobile protection plans. Visit acko.com/appliances to view all your appliance protection plans. Click on any of the plans to view the plan document and download it.

Q How do I raise a request for mobile or appliance repair?

Login to acko.com and click on Claims. For mobile repair, click on Mobile Repairs. For appliance repair, click on Appliance and TV Repair. Select the plan and follow the on-screen process to raise a repair request. You can also track the status of your request at the same place. Please refer to the plan document for more details on exclusions.

Q Is the No Claim Bonus transferable?

Yes, No Claim Bonus is transferable if you switch your insurer at the time of car insurance renewal.

Q How to raise a car insurance claim?

To raise a car insurance you need to get in touch with Acko General Insurance. To do so, register your claim at acko.com > Claims or call us on 1860 266 2256.

Q How will Acko resolve claims beyond city limits?

Beyond city limits, you will not have a pick up and drop facility. Contact Center will suggest an Acko network garage/workshop. Once vehicle is dropped at the garage/workshop, an external surveyor will be appointed for the assessment of loss.

Q What to do if a vehicle meets with an accident outside the area / city / state from where policy is issued?

Q What is the difference between a Third-party Liability Insurance and a Comprehensive Car Insurance policy?

A Third-party Liability Insurance is mandatory as per The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. It is designed to help third parties that might be affected by your car in case of an accident. On the other hand, a Comprehensive car policy includes the mandatory Third-party Liability insurance and offers wide insurance coverage for your vehicle. With a Comprehensive policy, your vehicle will be insured against risks such as accidents, theft, calamities, etc.

Q What is the meaning of Depreciation?

Depreciation means the reduction in the value of an asset due to wear and tear over a period of time. With regards to car insurance, this value is calculated as per the depreciation rates provided by the Insurance Regulatory And Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

Q What is the meaning of Policy Period?

Policy period means the duration for which your insurance policy is active. Generally, in case of car, this period is of one year. Make sure to renew your car insurance before the expiry of the policy period to stay insured.

Q Is it okay to add tentative information while using a car insurance premium calculator?

A car insurance premium calculator will calculate an approximate cost of your policy. Your premium will depend upon your vehicle, deductible amount, Insured Declared Value (IDV), number of Add-ons, etc. Entering tentative values will not result in the most accurate calculation. Thus, you need to add accurate information in the calculator to get the most relevant quote.

Q Why is it important to declare the correct IDV?

IDV i.e. Insured Declared Value of your car forms the basic factor used to calculate the cost of your car insurance policy. If you declare a higher value, the cost of your policy will also increase. On the other hand, if you set a lower IDV, you may receive a lower claim amount. Thus, it is important that you set the correct IDV while buying the policy. The correct IDV of your car is its approximate current market value.
